Munnar murders: Two teenage auto drivers hacked to death by Tamil Nadu native

Two teenage auto drivers from Munnar were hacked to death near Bodimettu in Tamil Nadu on Sunday allegedly by a man who hired their auto.

The deceased have been identified as Sharavanan (19) and John Peter (18). Tirunelveli native Mani, who is an accused in several murder cases in Tamil Nadu, allegedly committed both murders. Mani is currently absconding and the motive behind the crime is still unknown.

Mani, who was in Munnar to attend the funeral of one of his relatives, hired Sharavanan's auto on Saturday night to return to Tirunelveli, according to reports. Since it was a long trip, Sharavanan's friend John accompanied him.

The dead bodies were spotted by some locals, who noticed blood dripping out the auto stationed near Bodimettu on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi national highway on Sunday. They informed the police about the matter. 

Three persons - Senthil, Ramesh and Chelladurai - who were all linked to Mani have been taken into custody in connection with the murders. The police have formed three separate squads to find and arrest Mani.
