Minister seeks action against doctors for delaying treatment to minor rape victim

Synopsis

Minister orders action against doctors who delayed treatment to minor rape victim District Collector's report has found that there were serious flaws from the part of doctors The doctors delayed treatment by about six hours even though the child was accompanied by police

State Health Minister K K Shylaja has asked Health Secretary to take action against the doctors who allegedly delayed the treatment to the five-year-old girl who was sexually abused in Pathanamthitta.

The minister has asked Health Secretary to take appropriate action against the doctors after studying the reports filed in the case. 

Pathanamthitta District Collector had filed a report stating that there were serious flaws from the part of doctors. It was alleged that the doctors made the child wait for six hours before providing treatment, even though she was accompanied by the police. 

A probe conducted by District Medical Officer too had found the doctors guilty. The report has sought action against two doctors for dereliction of duty. The incident took place on September 15.
