Actress attack: Manju Warrier not to be named as witness against Dileep

Synopsis

The development comes after Manju Warrier expressed reservations about being named a witness in the actress attack case The special investigation team had earlier received legal advice that Manju could be made a witness However, the police have now decided to omit the actress from the list of witnesses in the charge sheet

The police team, probing the Kochi actress attack, will not name Manju Warrier as a witness in the charge sheet for the case, it has emerged.

The development comes after Manju expressed reservations about being named a witness in the case, in which her ex-husband and actor Dileep is one of the accused, according to reports.

The special investigation team (SIT) had earlier received legal advice that Manju could be made a witness, and that the actress being Dileep's ex-wife would not hamper the prosecution's chances in court during the hearing.

However, with Manju expressing doubts over the move, the probe team has now decided to omit the actress from the list of witnesses in the charge sheet.

The additional charge sheet names 11 persons as the accused in the case, of which only Dileep and prime accused Pulsar Suni have been touted as conspirators. The actor is likely to be named the eight accused.

Meanwhile, police chiefs are expected to request setting up a special court in order to fasten up the proceedings in the case. The SIT is also considering filing a separate case against Dileep for fabricating medical certificates, in order to make himself a fake alibi on the day of the attack.
