In yet another case of sexual crimes against minors in Kerala, it has emerged that a teen actress was allegedly gang-raped in Kollam.
It is understood that the 16-year-old, who has acted in two short films, was raped by a group of men during a birthday party at an apartment in the area.
The girl was reportedly gang-raped at the apartment after she was taken there by a television actress who promised her the opportunity to act in a film.
The police have taken a youth - the son of a textile merchant - into custody in connection with the case. Reports claim the accused is the nephew of a prominent political leader in the region.
It is alleged that the girl had lodged a complaint with the Kollam police last week but they had refused to take action initially due to political interference. The victim approached the police again on Tuesday, after which the youth was arrested.
