In a shocking incident, a girl died in a tragic accident on the premises of a college in Kerala. The deceased is identified as Meera Mohan, a student of CHMM College for Advanced Studies, Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram.

The accident took place on Thursday while the college was celebrating Fresher's Day', to welcome first-year students. The overspeeding car hit the girl around 11 am.

Though she was rushed to the hospital, Meera succumbed to her injuries in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. As per reports, the student came to college to submit her project report.
Police have arrested five students into custody.

Meera was waiting for her friend at a photostat shop and was on her Scooty when the car rammed on to her vehicle.

There were allegations that the students, who were taken into police custody were drunk but the college principal denied such allegations and said that he had met with them and is sure that it was merely an accident and the students were not drunk. However, the authorities agreed that it was the negligence on the part of the student that resulted in the accident.

Colleges in Kerala had banned vehicles, including bikes, from entering campus following an accident at the College of Engineering (CET), Thiruvananthapuram, which resulted in the death of a student on August 20, 2016.
