Four Kerala ministers had beacons removed from their vehicles on Thursday The central government had announced that VIPs will not be allowed to flaunt beacons anymore

Four Kerala ministers had beacons removed from their vehicles on Thursday, a day after the Union government decided that beacons atop all official vehicles will have to be taken down from May.

 

Finance minister Thomas Issac, revenue minister E Chandrasekheran, water resources minister Mathew T Thomas and culture minister AK Balan removed the beacons fitted on their official vehicles today.


The Chief Minister and the other ministers would also have the beacons removed from their cars soon, according to reports.

 

The central government on Wednesday announced that VIPs will not be allowed to flaunt red beacons atop their vehicles from May 1. The decision was taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
