Dr Vinay Goyal, an IAS officer from Kerala cadre, had won a whooping ₹12.5 lakh from Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). He is the first ever IAS officer to participate in KBC season 9.

Goyal, the 2016 batch IAS officer, currently posted as the Assistant Collector of Thrissur, won the amount after giving 12 right answers. He decided to quit on the 13th question as he had used all his lifelines.

When asked about what he plans to do with the money, Goyal said he would spend it for the benefit of students from economically backward society.

The performance of the officer was pretty impressive as he chose correct answers without much thinking or doubt. He was quick to answer from Question 1 to 12 but decided to quit as he couldn't answer 13th one.
