Kannur CPM worker arrested for sexually assaulting 70-year-old woman

A CPM worker has been arrested in Kannur, in connection with the death of a 70-year-old woman, who was found to be sexually assaulted.

 

CPM branch committee member PM Rajeev, a distant relative of the victim, has been arrested by the local police. 

 

The woman was found hanging at her residence in Muzhakkunnu on March 30. The post-mortem report revealed she was sexually assaulted, and a probe was ordered.

 

The investigation team, led by CI N Sunil Kumar and SI P Rajesh, made the arrest.

 

Sexual crimes against women and minors have been on the rise in the state. A 90-year-old woman was found sexually abused in Mavelikara last week.
