Navy sailor from Bihar found dead in Kochi

A 28-year-old Bihari naval sailor serving in INS Garuda was found hanging at his residential quarters in Kochi on Thursday. 

Raushan Himanshu, who hails from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, was found hanging at the accommodation facility for married sailors in Mundamveli near Fort Kochi, according to a Navy release.

The sailor was rushed to the naval hospital INHS Sanjivani but was declared dead on arrival. Raushan is survived by his wife and eight-month-old daughter. 

The local police have begun probe after registering a case of unnatural death. The Southern Naval Command, headquartered at Willingdon Island in Kochi, has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
