Haryana train lynching: Kerala CPM to give Rs 10 lakh to Junaid's family

The Kerala CPM has said that it would give Rs 10 lakh as solatium to the family of Muslim youth Junaid, who was stabbed to death by an angry mob on a train in Ballabhgarh, Haryana. 

A decision in this regard was taken at CPM's state committee meeting, a press release from the party said. 

Junaid's family members had recently met Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan along with CPM politbureau member Brinda Karat at the Kerala House in New Delhi and had narrated the problems being faced by the family. 

The family had sought financial help for the education of their children, the release said. The amount would be handed over to the family through the central committee.

Junaid, 16, was lynched by a mob, which allegedly mocked his taqiyah (cap) and called him a beef eater, after an argument over seats escalated. The incident which happened in June had sparked a nationwide outrage.The prime suspect in the case was arrested from Maharashtra last month.
