Synopsis

An employee with Education Department was suspended pending investigation Education Department got a complaint that the officer insulted Electricity Minister The complainant stated that the official made the derogatory post on April 23, 2017

A government employee had been suspended from service following a complaint that he had made an offensive post against state Electricity Minister on a WhatsApp group.

The complaint was that Basil Joseph, a senior clerk with Ernakulam educational sub-directorate, insulted minister through a post on the WhatsApp group 'vidyabhyasa Vakuppu'. 

The official was suspended pending investigation after Education Department found that his act was in violation of Section 60 of Government Servants' Conduct Rules, 1960.

Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) took action following a complaint filed by C B Rajeev, to the Education Minister and DPI. In his complaint, Rajeev had stated that Basil made the post on April 23, 2017, at 2.37 pm from the mobile number 9961662021.
