State govt releases Rs 130 crore to KSRTC to clear salary, pension arrears

Finance minister TM Thomas Isaac said Rs 130 crore would be given to the state-run bus company  This amount is in addition to the Rs 30 crore the govt pays KSRTC every month to meet its expenses The KSRTC currently has a debt of around Rs 3,500 crore

The Kerala government has allotted Rs 130 crore to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in order to help it distribute salary and pension arrears to its staff.

Finance minister TM Thomas Isaac said Rs 130 crore would be given to the state-run bus company on Tuesday. This amount will be in addition to the Rs 30 crore the government releases to the KSRTC every month to meet its expenses.

The KSRTC currently has a debt of around Rs 3,500 crore. A group of employees and pensioners have been protesting in Thiruvananthapuram as payments were delayed.

Minister Isaac said a solution to the issue will be found within three months. Meanwhile, transport minister Thomas Chandy assured that the salary and pension for the last month will be distributed within one week.
