Swami innocent, loved me like a daughter: woman tells High Court

Synopsis

The woman's affidavit was submitted in the High Court as part of godman Sreehari's bail plea In the affidavit, the woman said Sreehari has never misbehaved with her and used to love her "like a daughter" The woman insisted that she filed a complaint against the godman only because the police had threatened her to do so  

The woman, who was involved in the godman bobbiting case, has informed the Kerala High Court that Sreehari aka Swami Gangeshananda is innocent and was framed by the police.

In an affidavit submitted at the HC on Thursday, the woman said Sreehari has never misbehaved with her and used to love her "like a daughter". The law student also claimed that the godman had financially helped her family several times and had encouraged her to become a lawyer.

The woman insisted that she filed a complaint on charges of rape against the godman and approached the magistrate for the same only because the police had threatened her to do so.

The woman's affidavit was submitted in the HC as part of Sreehari's bail plea. The plea says that the godman's health has deteriorated after the surgery and he needs to rest.

The controversial case, which grabbed national headlines, has undergone a few twists and turns since the incident took place in Pettah near Thiruvananthapuram on May 18.

The woman had initially told the police that she cut off the godman's genitals when he made sexual advances towards her. She also alleged that Sreehari had been misbehaving with her ever since she was minor.
