A tusker ran amok during the annual festivities at the Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple near Kottayam on Monday morning but no one was injured.
A temple priest, who was atop the elephant, had a miraculous escape as he was pulled to safety by some locals from a building by dropping a rope in typical military style, visuals showed.
The incident occurred at 3 am on Monday morning. The elephant went on a rampage reportedly after being attacked by another tusker next to it.
