After spending 85 days in judicial custody in connection with the Kochi actress attack case, actor Dileep walked out of jail on Tuesday, amid much fanfare and celebrations.

Hundreds of Dileep's supporters had assembled outside the Aluva sub-jail on Tuesday evening after news spread that the actor got bail. The Kerala High Court had handed him a conditional bail earlier in the day.

When the actor stepped out of jail, he was welcomed by the massive gathering comprising of his fans, friends and some colleagues. The fans celebrated by cheering, bursting crackers and distributing sweets, like they do when his films release.

Dressed in a white shirt and jeans, Dileep waved to his supporters, thanking them for their unconditional support during the last three months. Dileep's brother Anoop, who submitted the release order to the jail superintendent ahead of the release, then took him to his house in Aluva.

The bail was granted by Justice Sunil Thomas after imposing stringent conditions, including surrendering of his passport, a deposit of Rs 1 lakh and two solvent sureties for the like amount. 

Another condition was that he should not tamper with evidence and appear before investigating officers as and when required. Granting him bail, Justice Thomas said investigation against Dileep was in the final stages and his further custody was not necessary. 

The actor, arrested on July 10, was in judicial custody and lodged in the Aluva sub-jail for the past 85 days
