The Thrissur district collector has filed a report to Kerala revenue minister E Chandrasekharan, stating that actor Dileep has encroached on government land to build his multiplex D Cinemaas in Chalakudy but also claimed the land grab case is complicated.

Collector A Kowsigan IAS examined documents from 1950s onwards before filing the report. The report says that many of the documents have been lost and a detailed examination is required to find out the extent of encroachment occurred.

Land grab row: Probe ordered against Dileep's D Cinemaas

Chandrasekharan confirmed that he has the collector's report but did not divulge further details. He said necessary action would be taken after studying the report in detail.

The land in question originally belonged to the royal family and was later transferred to the erstwhile Thiru-Kochi state. The land was then allocated to Chalakkudy Sreedharamangalam Sree Krishna temple for building an ‘oottupura’ by the government. A part of the land was also given away for the construction of the national highway. 

Dileep allegedly managed to buy one acre of the land by creating eight different title deeds in 2005.

Earlier, the Kerala High Court had ordered the state government to probe the same complaint. In the investigation that followed, then-collector MS Jaya came up with a report favouring Dileep. There were allegations that the report was influenced by an incumbent minister who tried to protect the actor.

However, after Dileep was arrested on charges of conspiracy in the Kochi actress attack case, the issue resurfaced.
