Dileep to serve life sentence? Police to charge actor with gang rape, conspiracy

The police team, probing the Kochi actress attack case, will file the charge sheet against actor Dileep at the Angamaly court on October 7, it has emerged.

Since the charges levelled against prime accused Pulsar Suni is also applicable to Dileep, the police will charge the actor of both conspiracy and gang rape among others, which would fetch him life imprisonment or more if the court finds him guilty. 

The police have decided to rush proceedings as Dileep will be eligible for bail by default if the charge sheet is not filed within 90 days. The actor was arrested on charges of conspiracy on July 10 and would complete three months in judicial custody next month.

It is understood that two lawyers who were earlier associated with Pulsar Suni could be also be made accused before the charge sheet is filed. The lawyers have been accused of attempt to destroy evidence. New arrests have not been ruled out as well.

However, the police have made it clear that the investigation will not end even if the charge sheet is filed next month. The probe to find the missing mobile phone that Pulsar Suni used to record the visuals of the sexual assault will continue.

The police will mention in the charge sheet that if visuals of the assault on the actress gets leaked to the public, it will have major repercussions. And hence it is paramount that the phone is recovered.
