CPM, the leading ally of ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) has called for a hartal in Kozhikode district on Friday after steel bombs were hurled at party's district committee office around 12.45 am. Meanwhile, RSS also has called for a hartal in five assembly constituencies in the district. 

RSS has staged the dawn-to-dusk strike to protest the attack on their office in Vadakara. Both parties have exempted vehicles from the hartal. 

Two bombs were hurled at CPM office as the district secretary P Mohanan reached the place, injuring party worker Sujith. They reported that five unidentified persons were seen fleeing the spot. 

The BJP had called for a hartal in Thiruvananthapuram district to protest an attack on party district office.
