CPM to censure MM Mani for controversial comments

MM Mani’s had said that members of Penbilai Orumai were engaged in immoral activities The UDF has been raising the pitch against Mani demanding his resignation

The CPM state committee has decided to censure power minister MM Mani for his controversial and derogatory statements against Penbilai Orumai.

Mani’s recent comment that members of Penbilai Orumai, the women plantation workers collective in Munnar, were engaged in immoral activities while referring to the time they staged a protest a few years ago, had snowballed into a major controversy and drew flak from several quarters.

The UDF has been raising the pitch against Mani demanding his resignation. The state Assembly proceedings were disrupted in the last two days after opposition leaders shouted slogans against the CPM leader
