
The police have arrested Congress leader and Kovalam MLA M Vincent on charges of sexual abuse after probing a complaint filed by the husband of a woman, who tried committing suicide.
Vincent was arrested after a four-hour grilling at the MLA Hostel in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. The probe team has now taken the legislator to the police headquarters for detailed questioning.

The probe team, under the leadership of Kollam city police commissioner Ajitha Begam, have collected evidence which proves that the legislator and the victim were in touch for several months.
After examining the call records, the police have found that Vincent rang up the woman more than 900 times in the last five months.

The police had registered a case against Vincent on charges of rape, abetment of suicide and stalking on Friday after taking the statement of the woman who had tried to end her life last week at Balaramapuram.
Vincent, however, alleged that there was a "political conspiracy" behind the allegations against him and filed a complaint with the police himself, demanding a detailed probe into the matter.
The Congress state leadership has demanded a "transparent" and "impartial" probe into the matter.
