In a major development in the sensational Kochi actress attack case, actor Dileep gave his statement to the cops at the Aluva police club on Wednesday, and faced a marathon grilling from the probe team afterwards.

The police took Dileep’s statement on the basis of an earlier complaint filed by the actor that he was blackmailed and threatened by the prime accused Pulsar Suni and his aide Vishnu. Speaking to reporters outside the police club before he went in, the actor refused to divulge any details regarding the case, saying he does not want a "trial by media".

Director Nadirshah, who is Dileep's close friend, also reached the police club to give his statement. The statements were taken by a team led by ADGP B Sandhya, who had incidentally taken the victim's statement again at the same venue a few days ago.

Dileep and Nadirshah arrived at the Aluva police club at 12.30 pm on Wednesday, and are yet to leave at the time of filing this report nine hours later.

Nadirshah and Dileep had earlier file a police complaint, saying a caller - who identified himself as Suni’s friend Vishnu - demanded Rs 1.5 crore for not dragging Dileep's name into the case.

Dileep, in a recent Facebook post, had said that a few online news portals and social media groups are trying to tarnish his image. He had also stressed that he is ready to undergo lie detection test or brain mapping to prove his innocence.

With new twists and controversies surrounding the case cropping up on a daily basis, the actress finally broke her silence on the matter on Tuesday, via a press statement.

The young actress, popular across South Indian industries, was kidnapped on February 17 while she was travelling from Thrissur to Kochi. The attackers later dumped near the house of actor-director Lal, who informed the police. The actress was allegedly molested during the abduction.
