Veteran Sandalwood actor Kashinath died on Thursday, January 18. He was suffering from cancer. The veteran actor, music director and filmmaker was admitted at the Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation in Bengaluru's Chamarajpet. He was admitted at the hospital two days ago. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Kashinath was known for making films that were considered ahead of its time. In fact, most people associate "double meaning" with Kashinath. His film 'Anubhava' although criticised for its bold content, is considered a cult classic.
He turned director and producer with Aparoopada Athitigalu in the year 1975 and he got a major break in Aparichita in 1978. The film, considered one of its kind in Sandalwood, was also remade the film in Bollywood titled Be-Shaque.
He was known for introducing several youngsters during his time. Upendra, Manohar and Sunil Kumar Desai entered the film industry under his mentorship.
