Member of Parliament Shobha Karandlaje is in the news for her statement on violence and unrest in Kalladka. But she is also in the news for supporting Yeddyurappa throughout his political career.
Even when Yeddyurappa was in the denotification case, she had supported Yeddyurappa, whom she considers his mentor. Recently, in a programme organised as a tribute to social reformist Basavanna, Filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh had showered praises on BS Yeddyurappa, giving a hint that he might join BJP soon.
However, more than him praising Yeddyurappa, his this question grabbed everyone's attention there. He asked Shobha the reason why she is always behind the leader Yeddyurappa?
Reacting to this Shobha Karandlaje gave a reply which won huge claps from the people gathered at the programme. Her answer was: If there is a leader who doesn't fall back on his promises it is Yeddyurappa. That is why I support him.
At a time when Yeddyurappa broke away from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP), Shobha had followed him and joined the new party. However, now both the leaders are back in BJP and Yeddyurappa is the State President of the party and Shobha is an MP.
This allegation has been on the backburner of Karnataka politics for a long time now. For example a Deccan Chronicle report from October 29, 2016 quoting KJP founder president as saying that Yeddyurappa and Shobha Karandlaje had tied the knot in a secret wedding in Kerala.
