The govt has not paid my medical bills, says Saalumarada Thimmakka

Synopsis

Saalumarada Thimmakka has refuted Minister Umashree’s statement that the government has paid for her medical bills. The environmentalist Thimmakka says ‘don’t make false claims’. Her foster son Umesh said we never requested for govt help, we cleared bills by taking loans

Strongly refuting Minister Umashree statement at the Assembly Session claiming that the State government has paid all medical expenses, Saalumarada Thimmakka and her foster Umesh said at a press meet on Thursday that the government has not paid any hospital bills nor did she request them for help.

“I neither appealed to the government to help for medical treatment, nor did the government paid my bills. Do not make false claim and lose face. My foster son has taken loan on interest and paid the hospital bills” she said.

Her foster son Umesh said “the Minister should get facts before making such claims. We have never appealed to the government for monetary benefit. Neither did we utter anywhere that the government has not provided facilities.  Kindly do not make false claims and bring down the dignity of the chair. I have been getting Thimmakka treated at Apollo Hospital since 2013. MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar and A H Basavaraju have helped us in their personal capacity and not from the government.”

He also informed that once in 2014 the Apollo Hospital wrote off the entire hospital bill in a goodwill gesture. Later on they have been giving her a discount of 30 per cent in medical bills.

He confirmed that Saalumarada Thimmakka is getting Rs 500 as monthly old age pension.
