Students boycott school for not appointing teachers

Students have boycotted classes for not appointing permanent teachers. Only one in-charge head master is handling all classes from I to VII standard He also has to attend to administrative responsibilities.

The students of government school at Ilehalli village, Yellapura taluk, Uttara  Kannada district, have boycotted going to school till permanent teachers are appointed.  It is three days since the school has reopened but students are not attending.

The government school has 54 students studying in classes from 1^st to 7^th.  The school has been sanctioned four teachers, however, teachers are not appointed. Currently there is only one in-charge head master A R Charan, who has to take care of all administrative works as well as teaching all classes. This has caused great inconvenience to students. Hence the students have taken a vow to boycott classes till permanent teachers are appointed.

The parents too are supporting their children and are not sending them to school.  The disgruntled villagers have expressed their anger to the Education Department saying either the department should appoint teachers or close down the school and transfer the lone teacher.

Will resolve at the earliest

The district education officer Narayana Naik responded that it is true that the school lacks teachers. Last year three guest teachers were appointed. Since their term finished, fresh appointments have to be made. The problem will be resolved at the earliest, Nayarna Naik said.
