
The bravery of a police constable seems to have little value in the police department when compared to their senior officers - who seem to get recognised in no time. Police constable Ramesh Gowda, who was presented with Rs one lakh cheque in honour of his bravery in 2013, is yet to receive the amount even after three years!
Ramesh Gowda, on duty protecting entrepreneur RN Nayak, had shot dead an assailant who was part of a gang that tried to kill Nayak in Ankola, Uttar Kannada district, on December 21, 2013 in broad daylight. Ramesh Gowda managed to kill an assailant, even though he was severely injured in the incident.
The then Director General of Police had awarded Rs one lakh cheque and a certificate to Gowda in appreciation of his bravery in 2015. But it has been year now, the money is yet to be credited to Gowda's account, reports Suvarna News.
Also, to Gowda's misfortune, the certificate awarded to him states that he had been given a monetary prize of Rs one lakh. This has put Gowda in a fix as the officials are now allegedly ignoring his requests for payment, it is learnt.
Gowda - despite being a government servant and showing an exemplary service - was made to run from pillar to post to earn his respect. This forces us to imagine what would have been the case if Gowda was an average citizen,
