Mahila Empowerment Party (MEP) launched by Dr Nowhera Shaik, founder and CEO of Heera Group, was expected to make a big impact in Karnataka Assembly elections. They are also slated to contest in the 2019 general elections. The party was, however, defeated and Dr Nowhera Shaik has absconded. while a group of party members are protesting in front of the MEP office in Infantry Road, Bengaluru, another group claims that they are being threatened by a Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Swabhimani Bana member for money.
