Lankesh spoke even more acrid says Prakash Rai

Synopsis

It is not the time to ponder if the assassination is by the left or the right wing or north wing. It is not right to politicise the issue by arguing who is responsible for the killing.  During our growing up days Lankesh used to speak more harshly. They were therapeutic, the society would listen to them. But now intolerance, hatred, desperation are on the rise. We have to find answers to all this.

Responding to journalist activist Gauri Lankesh’s killing, long-time friend actor Prakash Rai said it is not the time to ponder if the assassination is by the Left or the Right wing or north wing but for the police to find the killer. It is not right to politicise the issue by arguing who is responsible. Whoever has done it is a criminal. We have to find out the criminal. That is the immediate need. The government should work towards that he said.

He claimed we all are Lankesh’s children because he taught us the freedom of speech, Right to express.  During our growing up days Lankesh used to speak more harshly. However we had a healthy society where dissidents were looked upon as normal. What has happened now?

Poornacandra Tejasvi, D R Nagaraj, U R Ananthamurthy, Siddalingaiah were all known for their acid tongue. They were therapeutic, the society would listen to them. But now intolerance, hatred, desperation are on the rise. We have to find answers to all this, he said.
