KMC Hospital refuses to handover dead body for pending bill

Synopsis

KMC Hospital in Attavar in Mangaluru was with holding the dead body for pending bills to be cleared After the issue went viral on Social media relented and handed over the body. The State government has made a rule that hospitals cannot keep dead bodies as ransom for payment  

KMC Hospital officials in Attavar in Mangaluru refused to handover the body until the patients' relatives cleared the pending bills. However, after the issue went viral on Social media, the hospital staff relented and handed over the body, reports Kannada Prabha.

Resident of Mangaluru Risheel Pujari, a young man, was suffering from Pneumonia and was admitted at KMC Hospital intensive care unit for about 2 months. However, the treatment failed and he died. The hospital refused to handover the dead body till the bills were cleared. It can be recalled that the State government has made a rule that hospitals cannot keep dead bodies as ransom for payment.
