Karnataka Assembly elections will be held on May 12. Parties have almost finalised the candidates for most of the constituencies out of the total 224. From the lists released by the parties so far, 227 candidates are crorepatis, reports Association of Democratic Reforms.
Crorepatis
Congress has released its first list with 218 candidates, BJP has released two lists, and 111 candidates have been finalised. JD(S) has announced the list of 56 candidates so far.
From 218 candidates of Congress, 138 own property worth crores. Out of 111 candidates of BJP, 97 are crorepatis. Out of 56 candidates of the JD(S), 45 own propertoes worth more than one crore rupees.
Richest Candidate
Priyakrishna, current MLA from Govindarajanagar will contest from the same constituency and has declared property worth Rs 910 crore. Thus so far, he is considered as the richest among the candidates. N Nagaraju of Hoskote is the second richest candidate with property with Rs 288 crore. Anil Lad of Bellary has also shared the second spot as he too has declared property worth Rs 288 crore. The above-named candidates are from Congress.
K Bagegowda, JD(S) candidate from Basavanagudi has declared property worth Rs 250 crore, and BJP's KR Puram candidate Nandish Reddy owns Rs 118 crore worth property.
Criminal Cases
There are criminal cases against 48 Congress candidates and out of them 23 face serious accusations. BJP's 30 candidates have criminal cases against them, and out of 56 candidates of JD(S), nine face criminal cases and 17 candidates are booked for petty cases.
