It's a holiday in Karnataka on May 12. If you are planning to go shopping or for a movie, your desires will surely not be fulfilled. Here is why!
May 12 is the D Day in Karnataka when the 224 constituencies in the state face Assembly elections. The government and the election commission are putting in extra efforts to ensure that voting percentage is increased.
Already, there are awareness programmes on the importance of casting a vote on May 12. However, you will not be able to shop or watch a movie on that day, even if you are not listed on the voter's list.
The authorities are contemplating on keeping the theatres and shopping malls shut from 9 am to 6 pm on that day.
So, the state government is waiting for a nod from the Election Commission. As soon as there is a green signal by the EC, authorities will hold talks with the representatives from the malls and theatre owners' association and decide in this regard.
Whether the malls, cinema halls are open or closed on May 12, be responsible and cast your votes to choose the best leader for the state.
