
A Kannada teacher from a border school walked all the way from Chorla, Khanapura at Goa border, to Suvarana Soudha to stage a lonely protest as Marathi colleagues were harassing him not to teach Kannada, reported Kannada Prabha.
V G Balekundri, a Kannada teacher at the Government Marathi Higher Primary School walked from his house at Bylahongala to Suvaran Soudha. He started on Thursday night at 8 pm and reached Suvarna Soudha on Friday morning 11.30 am. While protesting alone at the Suvarana Garden, he spoke to media persons and said he was transferred to the school a year ago and his Marathi colleagues are forcing him to stay at home and draw his salary but not teach Kannada. They are even posing life threat to him. There are over 30 Kannada students from 1st to 8th standard. He says teaching Kannada would attract more students but the other 2 colleagues are threatening him.
