The Karnataka High Court has instructed the State government not to approve the Maha Master Plan 2031 prepared by the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA), reports Kannada Prabha.

The Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF) and Citizen’s Action Forum (CAF) had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to stay the approval of revised Maha Master Plan 2031 prepared by the BDA. The division bench headed by in-charge chief justice HG Ramesh and justice PS Dinesh Kumar inquired into the application and issued an order to the State government not to approve the revised Maha Master Plan 2031 without the approval of the High Court.

The counsel for applicants argued that a Bengaluru Mahanagara Planning Committee has been formulated to plan a revised a master plan but the BDA has bypassed the committee  and formulated its own revised plan. The BDA was ready to submit it to the government and this was in violation of the Constitution, argued the counsel. The court heard the argument and issued an order not to approve the revised plan by the BDA and to follow the current system.
