It looks like the BJP is trying to repeat the Uttar Pradesh victory in Karnataka. As the state is going for the Assembly elections in 2018, the party has already started its social media campaigns starting with creating the massive number of WhatsApp groups.
Currently, the BJP is aiming at creating 5,000 WhatsApp groups to reach out to people from every nook and corner of the state. The party is training 25,000 youths to carry out its WhatsApp plan, say reports in One India. Many youths are being trained from six months, and the plan is in the implementation stage now.
Speaking to NDTV, BJP Social Media Chief Balaji Basavaraj has told, “The IT cell of BJP is in place since 2007. As WhatsApp is open of the most popular social media forum, the party has decided to reach out to people through this medium. Separate groups have been created in the district, constituency level. Currently, 2,000 groups have been created, and we aim to soon reach the target of 5,000 group.”
BJP is training the youths to create messages with animation, GIFs and sending them to people. The party has appointed 100 admins in every constituency.
The BJP had used the WhatsApp trick in the UP too. The massive win there has inspired the party to use it for Karnataka too. So this is BJP’s master plan to reach out to people.
