Heavy rains have lashed the coastal areas of Mangaluru and Udupi, stranding the people who ventured out. The roads are inundated, trees have been uprooted damaging buildings and vehicles. The District Administration has declared a holiday for schools and colleges for two days as there is a warning of storm and heavy rains in the next two days.

The vehicles parked have drowned in the water accumulated on the roadside. The houses situated in the lower area have been inundated. With warnings of heavy rains for next two dates too, the situation is expected to become worse. Depression in the Arabian Sea is the reason behind heavy rains.
