BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has said that those who kill cows should be hanged. He was speaking at the Abhaya Gou Yathra at Kolar in Karnataka.
Subramanian Swamy also said that Section 48 of the IPC states that cow slaughter should be banned.
Here is what Section 48 of the Indian Constitution says: "The State shall endeavour to organise agriculture and animal husbandry on modern and scientific lines and shall, in particular, take steps for preserving and improving the breeds, and prohibiting the slaughter, of cows and calves and other milch and draught cattle."
"Cow slaughter will completely stop if all Hindus come together. You can vote for Muslims who contest elections. But vote only for those Muslims, who say their ancestors were Hindus," he said.
But why doesn't Subramanian Swamy state the same in Goa? Especially when BJP is in power in Goa, wouldn't it be easy for the party to execute beef ban in Goa? But why is no leader seen targeting that destination?
According to statistics, Goa consumes 2,400 kgs of beef every day, of which only 400 kg is imported from Karnataka.
Will beef be banned in Goa or will just Karnataka be targeted by leaders like Subramanian Swamy?
