False IT returns? 4-year jail term for Congress leader Santhosh Lad's cousin Vishwas

The Income Tax Department has convicted Vishwas Udaysingh Lad, who has been ordered to be imprisoned for four years for concealment of income and filing false returns of his Income Tax. In addition, a penalty of Rs 2 lakh also has been slapped on Vishwas.

Vishwas is the son of Uday Singh Lad, brother of Karnataka Congress leader Santhosh Lad's father Sivaji. Vishwas was caught as part of the series of IT raids conducted in Karnataka.  Recently, IT raids were conducted on those who were close to Congress leader and former Energy Minister DK Shivakumar.

Vishwas is the director of many companies including Taha Mines and Minerals Private Limited; V S l Steels Limited; V S I Land Developers and Constructions Private Limited; VSLB Projects Private Limited; Nestor Infotech Solutions Private Limited; ITONE Consultancy and Training Private Limited; Ashwini Capital Advisors Private Limited.

Vishwa's cousin Santhosh Lad had recently contested from Kalghatgi as part of the Congress party, but was defeated by a margin of more than 25,000 votes by BJP leader CM Nimbannanavar.
