In a shocking development, a police constable has been arrested for allegedly supplying sim cards to the inmates of by Bengaluru police, on Thursday.

In the guise of issuing warrants the inmates, the constable - identified as - Dinesh would allegedly provide sim cards to them, reports Udayavani.

The Parappana Agrahara Central prisons were in the news for all the wrong reasons, recently. While VIP facilities to Sasikala in prison made national headlines, it was also found that a few 'influential' inmates were using mobile phones.

This piece of information has baffled the police department that has been trying to implement measures to check the rampant use of mobile phones in the central prisons.

DCP Boralingaiah told media persons that constable Dinesh had been arrested with two mobile phones. The mobile phones were without sim cards that he was allegedly carrying them to the prisons. "We have seized the mobile phones and are investigating," reports Udayavani quoting DCP Boralingaiah.

It may be recalled here that the Comptroller and Auditor General report had pointed out the fact that the mobile jammers that were installed at the cost of Rs 28.28 crore were not functioning up to the mark. This allowed the inmates to use mobiles, secretly.
