Coffee-scented stamps, anyone?

When rubbed lightly, one can smell the aroma of coffee on the stamp which features coffee beans, a kettle with an image of steaming cup of coffee.

The stamp is an addition to the two more scented stamps that were released by the India Post, earlier. In 2006, India Post had released sandalwood scented stamp and the next year, it launched rose and jasmine-scented stamps. These stamps had sold out within a few days of the launch.

The move is a part of branding the coffee that is predominantly grown in Karnataka. The stamps have been printed at the India Security Press in Nashik. They have been sprayed or embossed with fine coffee graunels which will retain the aroma for a long time, reports The Hindu.

Already, one lakh stamps have been printed and will be available at the philately bureau of all the general post offices. These stamps, presently, are priced at Rs 100 and they are truly collector’s version.
