Is development of Bengaluru and Mysuru akin to progress of the rest of Karnataka? For, to majority of the chief ministers- irrespective of the parties - development of Karnataka is narrowed down to Bengaluru and next Mysuru. While, the rest of the Karnataka - especially the North Karnataka - has always bore the brunt of successive government's partiality. Although, the governments announce various projects to bridge the gap, it seldom reaches there and those districts continue to appear "poor" when compared to Bengaluru and Mysuru.
Such deep divide between 'Karnataka' and 'the rest of Karnataka' was complained by no politicians but a Class VII standard student. Aryan Giri, a student of MR Sakarae English Medium School here asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah why his hometown - Hubballi - looked dull and poor when compared to Bengaluru and Mysuru.
"The roads in my hometown look pathetic. There are more potholes and there is no trace of tar over there. But when I visited Bengaluru, the roads looked really smooth over there. There are wide roads unlike here. I have seen pictures of good roads in Mysuru too. Can I see such roads in my hometown too," asked Aryan Giri to Siddaramaiah. He also pleaded Siddaramaiah to provide clean drinking water in his locality.
Deeply embarrassed, Chief Minister explained him how the government is trying to develop North Karnataka through various projects. While it is not known, how much of Siddaramaiah's education on North Karnataka helped the boy understand the nitty- gritty of the 'politics' of development, Aryan's innocent questions indeed held a mirror to the government's negligence towards North Karnataka. Earlier, Siddaramaiah asked Aryan whether he could read and write Kannada. To which, Aryan responded saying that "I study in an English Medium school but I'm fluent in Kannada."
Siddaramaiah was at the Circuit House in Hubballi on Saturday. Although, there was no scheduled event to meet anyone, Aryan Giri apparently went to meet the chief minister on Saturday evening but the police sent him away. But Aryan landed at the Circuit House on Sunday morning with his complaint. With no option, the police allowed him to meet the chief minister, reports Suvarna News.
