The State BJP leaders celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday as Seva Dina (Service Day) at various parts of the city. BJP State President BS Yeddyurappa, Union Minister HN Ananth Kumar, DV Sadananda Gowda and other leaders participated in the 'Seva Dina' and engaged in Swachchata Abhiyana, reports Kannada Prabha.

Yeddyurappa met people who were rain victims and distributed five kg rice. The BJP leaders had organised many programmes but had to cancel due to heavy rain. Union minister HN Anantha Kumar cleaned the Kempe Gowda statue at Guttahalli. He was accompanied by MLA Ravisubrahmanya and MLC Tara. Although the programme was scheduled to begin at 8 am, the leaders arrived late owing to heavy rain.

The workers of BJP Mahila Morcha too were in for disappointment when a clean up programme they had planned at Kadu Malleswara temple had to be cancelled due to heavy rain. BJP leaders had also planned to clean up the Gandhi statue at Mourya Circle. But Congress had already taken permission from the police for holding a protest there. Hence, the Swachchata programme was cancelled. The BJP leaders had to satisfy with just garlanding the statute.
