
For BJP to win at the next legislative elections, cooperation of digital soldiers are essential said BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa. Speaking at a convention on Sunday organised by the BJP IT section at the Palace Grounds, Yeddyurappa said information technology is going to lay a significant role in the coming 2018 legislative elections. BJP requires digital soldiers to propagate and take the Party to victory. Social media platforms must be utilised to capacity to promote the Party, he said, reported Kannada Prabha.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had utilised digital media very effectively during the previous Lok Sabha elections. Similarly the Uttar Pradesh elections also had used IT effectively. Hence in the 2018 elections at the State, digital platforms must be utilised very effectively and IT workers must gear up for the same, he said.
Of the total 224 constituencies 170 constituencies have strong digital presence. Social media, Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter must be used for campaign. A database of all voter’s phone numbers must be prepared. Digital media is the simplest way to reach the achievements of Modi government. Hence it should be used effectively, he said.
Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who inaugurated the convention said since the time for State legislative elections is very short, social media campaigns must be used effectively.
Meanwhile, at a general body meeting of the BJP workers, B S Yeddyurappa said the Party will definitely get 150 seats and come to power with clear majority. He said intelligence report has also confirmed this. Hence the workers have a responsibility on their shoulders. He said many are eager to join BJP. Leaders of other Parties are also ready to come to BJP. As the elections approach Congress, JD(S) leaders will join BJP. All will not get ticket but that should not stop them from joining BJP, he said.
The Opposition leader K S Eshwarappa was absent at the general body meeting giving rise to suspicion if things are still not sorted between him and B S Yeddyurappa. Eshwarappa was absent even for the Core Committee meeting of the senior leaders. However, Eshwarappa clarified that the meeting being on the second Sunday of Shravana month he had special poojas organised at home in Shimoga and hence could not attend.
The general body meeting also saw demonstrations and slogan shouting against the ruling State Government. The BJP workers shouted slogans against the State Government for failure to implement water projects to tackle drought and total lack of law and order in the State. The meeting also discussed the next elections, plans to fight the ruling government, strengthening of Party and other issues.
A decision was taken to condemn the failures of the Congress Government in tackling drought, providing drinking water, failure to create employment generating industries. State BJP in charge Muralidhara Rao said the people of Karnataka will teach a lesson to Siddaramaiah in the next elections. Opposition leader Jagadish Shettar said though the State Minister has illegal assets, the blame is on Centre for IT raid. If appropriate documents are submitted there is no need to fear, he said.
The meeting paid respects to the departed personalities like Prof U R Rao, former CM Dharam Singh, producer Parvathamma Rajkumar and BJP leader B B Shivappa.
