BJP's 63-page 'chargesheet' accuses Congress of turning Karnataka into another Bihar

Corruption, failure to tackle law and order issue and empty promises are the only 'Bhagyas' that the state government has presented to the people in its four-year-rule, remarked BJP leaders.

Releasing the 63-page chargesheet against the Siddaramaiah government, BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa said that Siddaramaiah had presented a mountain of promises but people received nothing but the pain and suffering. Listing out the 29 government's failures, he said the law order in the state has completely collapsed, especially with the rise in political murders. "There have been about 6,521 murder cases of which 2,534 victims were women alone. Nearly, 1.25 lakh criminal cases have been registered in Bengaluru in the last four years," he said, reports The Times of India.

Quoting a survey, BJP leaders said it is a matter of shame that the state has put Bihar - which was ranked highest in corruption charges, previously - behind to be regarded as the most corrupt state in the country. From Hublot watch case to diary scandal to MK Ganapathy suicide, the state government is mired in corruption, they pointed out.

Even on the development front, the state government's performance is dismal. Siddaramaiah had promised to allocate Rs 10,000 crore towards the Upper Krishna project every year but it has remained on paper, so far. Besides, people are not able to own a house in the state as there is a severe shortage of sand, thanks to the rampant illegal sand mining in various parts of the city.

Eshwarappa conspicuous by his absence

While majority of the BJP leaders were present while releasing a booklet of chargesheet against the Congress, opposition leader in the Legislative Council KS Eshwarappa was conspicuous by his absence. Although, BJP leader and former chief minister Jagadish Shettar claimed that the party had not invited its council members, it was quite apparent that the cold war between Yeddyurappa camp and Eshwarappa camp was still on.
