Bengaluru: No Cauvery water in parts of city for four days

Synopsis

Here is the list of places that will not get Cauvery water for four more days from July 18 in Bengaluru.

Heavy rains has caused havoc in the Cauvery basin. The downpour has led to flow of water mixed with sand. This water is not suitable for daily use or for drinking. Hence the government has taken a decision to not supply Cauvery water for four days from today (18 July) in Bengaluru.

Here is the list of places that will not get Cauvery water for four more days.

Jambusavari Dinne, Bommanahalli, Anjanapur, Marathahalli, A Narayanapura, KR Puram, Hoodi, ITPL, Jalahalli, GKVK, Laggere, T Dasarahalli, Bahubali Nagar, Moodalapaya, BEL Circle, Hegganahalli, Nagawara, Vijayanagar, Rajajinagar and surrounding places.

Currently the Cauvery water is being purified at Thorekadanahalli. Everyday 500 million litre of water gets purified in this plant. The quantity of sand mixed in the water is large and it is not possible for the plant to supply clean water.

So, the decision has been taken to stop water supply for various parts of Bengaluru. The residents of KR Puram have already complained of not releasing the water, without any notice.
