50 per cent of potholes filled up, claims BBMP

BBMP officials hope to fill up all potholes, if rain gives a break for another two days The BBMP had identified 18,811 potholes earlier and has now added another 4,850 to it. Of the 24,000 potholes around 12,000 have been filled up The work will not stop during festival holidays also, instead will be expedited as there will be less traffic 

With rain giving a break for two days, the BBMP has been able to fill up at least 50 per cent. BBMP is working on war footing to fill up the potholes in the wake of too many pothole accidents. If the rain gods give a break for another week, the BBMP is hopeful of filling up all the potholes, reports Kannada Prabha.

The BBMP that had identified 18,811 potholes earlier, has now added another 4,850 to it. Of the 24,000 potholes around 12,000 have been filled up. On Tuesday, also potholes were filled in Chamarajpet, VV Puram, Anand Rao Circle and other places.

The work will not stop during festival holidays also, instead will be expedited as there will be less traffic and it will be done during mornings also, said a BBMP official. Mayor R Sampathraj has instructed the officials to speed up the work on storm water drain. He inspected the civil works at the Hebbal canal and other works. Speaking to newspersons, he said the works will be completed within next 10 days. He has instructed the officials to take precautionary measures. Noticing that a wall had collapsed at the Yellamma temple, he instructed the officials to remove the silt and rise the wall.

The Mayor also inspected the Rajakaluve at Seethappa Extension, Chamundinagara Main Road, Gangamma Layout, Vasanthappa Block, SBM Extension and Anandanagar. He instructed to get tippers and JCBs to speed up the repair works. He later visited Kunthi Grama, Cholanayakanahalli, Ananthalingeshwara Hill. Deputy Mayor Padmavathi Narasimha and other BBMP officials accompanied him.
