Daniel Devanur had married his relative and Pakistani citizen Sylvia Noreen at Lahore's Pentecostal church on June 26, 2016. But he could not bring his wife to India due to diplomatic restrictions. He returned alone on July 11, 2016.
He ran from pillar to post seeking permission to bring his bride home but in vain. Frustrated, Daniel sought help from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj with a series of tweets, who promised him to help.

With all the bureacratic hurdles being cleared now, Sylvia has reached Delhi and is staying at a relative's house. Elated Daniel profusely thanked Sushma Swaraj, MP Prahlad Joshi and bureaucrats who helped in reuniting his wife with him.
Daniel is presently at Delhi and planning to bring his bride home. Back home, his parents are making arrangements to give a grand reception to their daughter-in-law.
