Synopsis

Sasikala was given 150 ft corridor with five cells for her use She was allowed to wear her own clothes and eat the food of her choice Out of 28 inmates, 17 were tested positive for the use of drugs

DIG Roopa has been transferred as the DIG of TRansport Department following her report on the irregularities in Parappana Agrahara. In a recent interview with the Republic, she spoke about te report and gave some details on Parappana Agrahara.

DIG Roopa was the first woman DIG to be posted to the Prisons Department in Karnataka. Apart from the claims Roopa had made earlier, there are other details on the report she has submitted to the higher officials is available.

1) Sasikala was given 150 ft corridor to herself. This corridor had five cells, and Sasikala was free to use them. It was alleged that the prison was overflowing with inmates, sometimes even 60 prisoners in one cell. But Sasikala had five cells empty for her use.

2) In addition, Sasikala was using the jail kitchen for her use. She could get anything she wanted, prepared there despite officers making it clear that she was not a VIP but a prisoner like anyone else.

3) Sasikala is also said to have one TV for herself that too a LED TV. The report also said that there were 129 TV sets inside the prison.

4) Sasikala was allowed to wear the clothes of her choice whereas all others were wearing the uniform provided by the jail.

5) Other details reveal that out of 25 inmates tested for drugs and ganja use, 177 tested positive. Thus, 70 per cent of the inmates were under the influence of ganja inside the prison.

DIG Roopa had accused that VK Sasikala had paid  Rs 2 crore to get these facilities inside the jail. The footages for drug, ganja deals inside the prison, Sasikala wearing colour dress, a special room with mats, etc. , Sasikala walking on the special corridor are available.
