'Namma Metro' to suspend services from MG Road to Indiranagar from December 28 to 30

Services will be standard for the rest of the train network along the purple line.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), has decided to suspend train services from December 28 to 30 between MG Road and Indiranagar after cracks formed on the pillars supporting the line.

According to reports, the trains will ply at different headways ranging from 6 to 15 minutes. Services will be standard for the rest of the train network along the purple line.

On December 28, the trains leaving before 7:30pm from Mysuru Road will be travelling up to Byappanahalli and trains going to Byappanahalli before 7:45pm will run up to Mysuru Road. Apart from this, the trains which depart will runn between Mysuru Road and MG Road and Indiranagar and Byappanahalli stations.

According to reports, on December 31, the metro rail service will be restored so that late night passengers are not inconvenienced on New Year’s Eve.

On December 9, a BMRCL team found cracks on a pillar near Trinity Metro Station. The metro services were delayed for an hour as BMRCL set up iron beams to support the pillar on December 12.

The officials found that the slider ramp on the tracks was dislocated. Repair works are currently being carried out but only after 11pm. Previously, the BMRCL had stated that the metro services would stop on December 22 and 23 but has been postponed.
