A woman from Bengaluru claimed that her achievement is still dependent on the sacrifice her mother made years ago when she pawned her gold bangles to keep her education going. Anusmita said that her mother did not hesitate to mortgage her jewels in order to pay her admission fee and keep her daughter's education going.
“My mother put her gold bangles in finance to pay my college admission fee. She didn't think twice. She just did it. Because that's what she does,” she said in an Instagram post. Getting a job at Flipkart meant much more to Anusmita than just achieving success in her career. It became evidence, in her view, that her mother's sacrifice had produced something worthwhile.
“Every single day I show up at Flipkart - I show up for her. This job isn't just a job. It's proof that her sacrifice meant something. That the girl whose mother pawned her gold to send her to college made it somewhere worth going,” she said.
Anusmita does not often speak publicly about this chapter of her life, but felt it was time to acknowledge it: “Today felt like the right day to say it out loud. Ma - this one’s for you. Everything is for you. Always. Love you above everything.”
The video begins with Anusmita embracing her mother before transitioning to scenes from her professional life, transforming a personal accomplishment into an homage to the lady who made it possible.
The caption overlay on her film summed up her story in one line: "The girl whose mother pawned her gold bangles to pay her admission fees, cracked the job to afford everything for her mother."
Many viewers praised the woman for her perseverance in the comments section of the post.
