In a rather unusual incident that has caught the attention of many, a neighbourhood dispute in Bengaluru took an unexpected turn as it revolved not around people, but their pets. The matter, which could have escalated into a serious conflict, was resolved peacefully following timely police intervention. The incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a user named Yasir Mushtaq, highlighting how officers from the Seshadripuram area handled one of their more unusual calls.
The issue began when a resident’s male cat reportedly mated with a neighbour’s female cat. Tensions rose after the female cat gave birth to four kittens, leading to an unusual disagreement between the two households.
According to reports, the owners of the female cat brought the newborn kittens to their neighbour’s house and insisted that they take responsibility for raising them. They argued that since the neighbour owned the “father” cat, they should look after the kittens.
This demand quickly led to a heated verbal exchange between the two families. As the situation intensified, someone alerted the police to prevent the argument from escalating further.
Police personnel from the Seshadripuram Police Station arrived at the scene and stepped in as mediators. They calmed both parties and worked towards a practical solution to resolve the dispute.
To resolve the matter, the police proposed that neither family would be compelled to keep the kittens. Instead, they arranged for a neutral third party to take responsibility for them.
Both families agreed to the solution, and the kittens were subsequently moved to their new home. The intervention ensured that the disagreement was settled peacefully, maintaining harmony between the neighbours.
One user commented: “How the mother cat has allowed it's kittens to be taken away. The owner of mother cat should have taken responsibility of kittens.”
Second User commented: "How did they separate the kittens from the mother? Should have waited for 4 weeks to give them away. Both Cats are responsible so they could've been kept for two weeks each.”
"Why the cats or dogs not neutered in India. Why is it not mandatory. With so many pet lovers Govt. Should think of yearly licence fee and insurance with mandatory rules to follow," a third user chimed in.
